Solar fan caps - No 4 in MSN's "Top 15 Sun Powered Gadgets For The Summer"
They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, which means our days of glorious sunshine (when we get them) are particularly something special to enjoy this year.
To help us in our celebration of sunshine, MSN's Tech & Gadgets team have put together a top 15 list of great solar powered gadgets.
These lists are always fun to look at and, being a modest bunch at Select Solar Gadgets, we are particularly pleased to see our solar fan caps are on Microsoft's list at number 4.
From what they tell us, our customers are very happy with their solar caps. In fact one customer, who had changed her mind between ordering and delivery, decided to keep the cap anyway and gave it as a gift (the recipient was "absolutely tickled with it").
To protect them, we supply these caps with the plastic fan unattached. So, there is a small amount of self assembly required to fit the fan onto the little motor. This is "extremely easy to do" (another customer's words).
Back to the list ...
Adam Hartley (the author of the top 15 list) wrote that these caps are ideal for a picnic in the park. We agree with him there. Of course they work just as well in the garden, out for a walk, at an airshow ...
He also referred to the cap as a bit of a "fashion faux pas". Cheek!
Perhaps we should send him the solar powered bikini that was announced last year. No we don't supply those - that might be taking things a bit far. (Although it was fascinating to carefully study this interface between technology and fashion - strangely the boss soon found me something else to do).
In case you're wondering, here's the link to the Tech & Gadget's review of the solar fan cap.
Or, you could always buy a solar cap for "a friend".
